Shira works as both an actor and theatre creator, and she is the Creative Director with UnSpun Theatre. Shira has performed with award-winning theatre companies across Canada. She starred in the film Rung, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and Family First, which screened at the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Shira's live art performance, Lost Together, won the 2018 SummerWorks Festival Production Award. It will be remounted at the 2019 Progress Festival in Toronto. Her performance installation All The Things I've Lost was commissioned by Toronto's Gardiner Museum and premiered there in August 2016.
Shira's work as a theatre creator includes co-creating and performing in The Tin Drum (Dora Nomination), Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump and One Block with UnSpun Theatre. She had the pleasure of performing in The Smile Off Your Face (Re:Current Theatre, SummerWorks 2017 - Best Production Award), and has worked with Vancouver's Guilty By Association in two SummerWorks productions (These Violent Delights, Moderato Cantabile). She was a collaborator on The Red Machine (HATCH, Harbourfront Centre/The Room). With Julie Tepperman, she created Sperm Bank (Summerworks Performance Gallery) and Uninvited, which enjoyed a three-week residency at Toronto's Theatre Passe Muraille.
Shira co-created and performed in The Speedy, a Harbourfront Centre Fresh Ground New Work commission that enjoyed its World Premiere in May 2014 as part of Harbourfront Centre's World Stage.
She's a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and the University of Guelph.
